From 2015 through 2020, Illinois family law changed—in many ways quite radically. This started with the 2015 Illinois maintenance guidelines. 2016 brought us the overhaul of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act (nearly a decade in the making). Mid-year 2017 brought us the income-shares child support law. And in 2018 and 2019, we had maintenance amendments that reshaped alimony awards under our guidelines (and changed how child support is determined).
