The AFCC has recently provided their Guidelines for Parenting Plan Evaluations in Family Law Cases. The 2022 Guidelines were prepared by the AFCC Task Force for the “Revisions of the
Model Standards for the Practice of Child Custody Evaluation.”
AFCC developed and adopted these Guidelines to: “promote competent practice of parenting evaluations in the family court setting, provide information to those who use parenting evaluations, and increase public confidence in parenting evaluations.”
Yet note that while the AFCC encourages members to conform their practices to these Guidelines, there is no enforcement mechanism and membership in this leading organization.
The AFCC also provides Guidelines for Parental Coordinators. Note that Illinois rejected a parenting coordinator statute in 2022 but anticipate this law being re-introduced in 2023.
The AAML has a webinar this Friday on the 2022 Guidelines for Parenting Plan Evaluations. Click here to register for that program. It will also be offered “on demand.”
